The founder of the UCA and UTBA presented this medical-scientific community of experts in Regenerative Medicine on September 18 to healthcare professionals.
MIKS seeks to unify criteria, export knowledge and improve biological treatments worldwide.
Regenerative medicine takes another step forward with the launch of MIKS (Medical Innovation Knowledge Sharing), a global platform that seeks to improve the quality of biological treatments, advance research and export the knowledge developed in Vitoria-Gasteiz, promoting the continuous training of health professionals worldwide. Driven by the renowned Dr. Mikel Sanchez and his team of the UCA - Arthroscopic Surgery Unit and UTBA - Advanced Biological Therapy Unit, this international scientific community arises with the aim of unifying protocols and criteria in the use of biological therapies, such as blood derivatives and cell-based products, with a patient-centered approach.
The official kick-off of MIKS took place on Wednesday, September 18 through an open webinar, where the foundations of this community and its collaborative approach to improve regenerative medicine treatments were presented. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, MIKS aims to become a global reference in this field.
Training and innovation at the service of health
One of the great strengths of MIKS is its commitment to the continuous training of medical professionals. The platform offers educational resources, hands-on training and access to cutting-edge research to ensure that biologic therapies are applied effectively and rigorously. This approach will not only improve the quality of treatments, but will also foster the creation of a global network of experts who share their advances and best practices.
According to Dr. Sanchez, “MIKS's mission is to unite professionals who already apply these therapies, establish consensus and ensure ongoing training to further improve clinical practice. We want patients around the world to benefit from the best possible treatments based on the most current scientific evidence”.
A platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration
MIKS not only seeks to unify criteria, but also to ensure that healthcare professionals have access to practical training and knowledge sharing. Through this platform, experts in Regenerative Medicine will be able to share research, experiences and best practices, fostering scientific collaboration at a global level. The Arthroscopic Surgery Unit (UCA) and the Advanced Biological Therapy Unit (UTBA), with more than 30 years of experience, will be the driving force behind these advances from Spain to the world.
International Congress in Vitoria-Gasteiz: a key event for the medicine of the future
As part of its mission, MIKS will hold its 1st International Congress on April 3, 4 and 5, 2025 in Vitoria-Gasteiz. This event will bring together experts from around the world to update biological treatments in orthopedic surgery, explore new applications in pain management and evaluate the potential of biological therapies in the coming years.
The congress will consolidate Vitoria-Gasteiz as a capital of medical innovation and underline UCA's commitment to the development of advanced therapeutic solutions.
A new center for innovation
In parallel, Dr. Mikel Sánchez is leading the development of an Advanced Regenerative Medicine Center based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a project that will combine patient care with scientific research and the training of new professionals. This center, which is scheduled to open in 2025, will be a pioneering space in the development of innovative and cutting-edge biological therapies, allowing to accelerate their adoption, in order to improve the quality of life of patients and generate more effective therapeutic solutions.
MIKS and the future Center for Regenerative Medicine represent a solid commitment to the coordination and standardization of biological treatments, in order to obtain better clinical results and contribute to the development of new therapeutic solutions. With a platform of global reach, it seeks to foster collaboration between physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals to optimize the use of biological therapies.
“The main purpose of MIKS is to create a global scientific community where knowledge and collaboration drive advances in regenerative medicine. Always with the goal of improving the health of patients,” concludes Dr. Sanchez.
